According to a statement of the foreign ministry the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, held a meeting today with Mr. Sirik Zhomangren, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

 

The meeting primarily focused on discussing bilateral political and economic relations between Afghanistan and Kazakhstan, as well as exploring opportunities for bilateral trade and Kazakhstan’s potential investments in Afghanistan.

 

Upon welcoming the Kazakh delegation, Minister Muttaki highlighted the expanding economic, commercial, and transit cooperation between the two nations. He expressed Afghanistan’s keen interest in expanding commercial transactions with Kazakhstan and conveyed satisfaction with Kazakhstan’s significant commercial role in Afghanistan.

Minister Muttaqi also expressed hopes for investments in sectors such as mining, railways, and electronic governance in Afghanistan. Moreover, he stressed the need to elevate the level of Afghanistan’s diplomatic mission in Kazakhstan and emphasized the importance of establishing direct flights between Kabul and Astana to facilitate the growing bilateral relations.

 

In response, Deputy Prime Minister Sirik Zhomangren acknowledged the expanding relations between Kazakhstan and Afghanistan, noting that Afghanistan’s exports to Kazakhstan have tripled. He mentioned that his technical delegation, as part of the national team, would engage in detailed technical discussions regarding investments in railways, mines, and joint ventures in Afghanistan. Deputy Prime Minister Zhomangren expressed optimism about initiating direct flights between Kabul and Astana.

 

Additionally, the Deputy Prime Minister announced his plans to inaugurate a joint trade exhibition between Afghanistan and Kazakhstan in Kabul during his three-day visit to Afghanistan.
