Amir-ul-Mumineen Mullah Muhammad Omar Mujahid, enigmatic leader of our time

4^th of Sawr corresponding with 12^th of Ramadan commemorated the 8th anniversary of the passing away of the founder of the Islamic Emirate – Amir ul Mumineen Mullah Muhammad Omar Mujahid (may Allah have mercy on him). The followers of Islamic thought and supporters of Islamic Emirate worldwide celebrated memory of the late Amir by publishing fond recollections, memories, fidelity and heroics of the late Amir ul Mumineen on social media platforms.

The late Amir ul Mumineen was one of the greatest political figures and reformers of our time, figures that rarely come by every few centuries. He set forth to revive the obligation of Islamic governance and rule that had long been lost by the people and its implementation relegated to the realm of abstractions. However, the late Mullah Sahib (RH) rose to demonstrate to the world that if one maintains faith, sincerity, resolve and firm belief in principles, it is still quite possible to establish a government based on pure Islamic foundations akin to the best century, to implement Shariah, to apply huddud, and to align governance, law, judiciary, culture, education, economy and all aspects of life with a radiating Islamic charter.

The greatest act of the late Amir ul Mumineen was precisely this – to have revived a forgotten political track in an established international order, a system not codified, ratified or designed by some eastern or western philosopher but a system sent by God Almighty (SwT) to this planet to reform human behavior and strengthen the social fabric, a system that serves as the sole guarantor of human success, security, justice, morality and social progress.

The greatest tragedy is that both the personality of Amir ul Mumineen Mullah Muhammad Omar Mujahid and essence of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan remain covered in dust storms stirred by pernicious propaganda. It is imperative that the character of Mullah Sahib, his taqwa, sincerity and fidelity to principles be analyzed objectively. The world must research the nature of Islamic system without a prejudiced lens or political consideration to discover its inexhaustible reservoir for justice and success, a reservoir that was practically tapped and its positive effects dispersed in all directions by the esteemed Amir ul Mumineen Mullah Muhammad Omar Mujahid.

As debates about future governance models again heat up in Afghanistan, our fellow compatriots and the world must remember that just as an Islamic system and implementation of Shariah treated all sores of our homeland two decades earlier, rescued the nation from a dystopian nightmare, safeguarded national integrity and international repute, and restored security, peace and tranquility to all Afghanistan, it can only be an Islamic system that has the capacity of resolving all the problems currently plaguing our nation.
