4 bases, 3 police stations and 36 posts overrun in Garmsir, equipment seized

HELMAND, Aug. 13 – Amid ongoing ‘Operation Omari’, Mujahideen carried out coordinated assaults against remaining positions of hirelings in the surroundings of Garmsir district 11:00 pm Thursday night.

Attack of heavy and light arms continued till late Friday afternoon, resulting in a base, a police station and 12 check posts overrun in Zanzir area; a base, a police station and 12 check posts in Derwaishano area and a base a police station and 12 posts in Mirza Agha area, killing 36 gunmen and forcing the rest to flee.
According to details 2 APCs, 3 ranger pickups, 5 US heavy machine guns, 35 US rifles and various types of war equipment was confiscated in the successful operation.
A Mujahid was martyred and another wounded in the operation.
