Officials from the Department of Information and Culture in Herat province have announced the initiation of the restoration project for the fifth minaret in the region.
The director of archaeology at the department stated that the strengthening efforts for Herat’s fifth historic minaret have begun, thanks to the generous financial assistance provided by the Aga Khan Foundation.
He further explained that the first phase of restoration involved reinforcing the structure with iron, while the second phase is currently underway without the use of any external tools.
