Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund inaugurated the commencement of the Herat-Ghor Road construction project today, April 29.
Joining him in the ceremony were notable figures including the governor of Herat, Sheikh Noor Ahmad Islamjar, the governor of Ghor, Maulvi Ahmad Shah Din Dost, and the commander of 207 Al-Farooq Corps, Maulvi Nasrullah Mati, alongside civil and military officials from Ghor and Herat.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the crucial role of the transportation sector in driving the country’s economic growth. He highlighted that the Islamic Emirate has prioritized this sector, engaging in frequent dialogues with neighboring and regional countries to foster development and undertake significant infrastructure projects.
Deputy PM Mullah Baradar Akhund underscored the tangible progress in highway reconstruction since the re-establishment of the Islamic Emirate, referring to the inauguration of the Herat-Ghor Road project as an example. This roadway serves as a vital national project, linking provinces such as Herat, Ghor, Bamyan, Daykundi, and Maidan Wardak to Kabul via land transport.
Additionally, he noted the presence of valuable salt and marble mines along this transport corridor, emphasizing that its completion will significantly bolster trade and regional transit opportunities.
