KABUL, Aug. 17 – The construction work of the new Kabul city has practically started today with the signing of an agreement between the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and Khawar Construction Company, in presence the high officials of the Islamic Emirate.

The new city of Kabul is located to the north of the current Kabul city, which includes all the areas of Da Sabz district and some areas of Shakardara, Qarabagh, Stalf and Kalkan districts and Barik Aab area of ​​Bagram district of Parwan province.

The said city is built on 740 square kilometers of land and is almost one and a half times bigger than the current city of Kabul.

The master plan of the New Kabul City project is being implemented in two 15-year phases, and in the first phase, 250,000 houses will be built for 1.1 million people, which will also include commercial, agricultural and recreational areas.

The head of the affairs department, Sheikh Noorul Haq Anwari, said in the ceremony that now it is time for the Islamic Emirate to accelerate its efforts for the economic self-sufficiency of the country and put Afghanistan on its feet.

Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs of the Ministry of Economy, said at the ceremony of this project that the new city of Kabul will have all the possibilities of today’s era and with the start of this project, many citizens will find jobs and investors along with the provision of investment land, the conjusion in the current city will be greatly reduced.

Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, the administrative dwputy PM Ministry expressed that all national businessmen and investors have an obligation to participate shoulder to shoulder with the government in building the country.

Mowlavi Din Muhammad Hanif, acting head of the Ministry of Economy, said that despite billions of dollars in the country in the past 20 years, many Afghan families are still struggling with poverty and economic problems and requested Afghan investors living abroad to contribute to the construction of their country by transferring all or part of their assets to Afghanistan.

The governor of Kabul, Sheikh Mohammad Qasim Khalid adressed the meeting and said Islamic Emirate’s two-year achievements in the field of health and economy cannot be overlooked, and the national businessmen and investors who invest in the country are ours national champions in the economic sector.

Sheikh Hamdullah  Nomani, Acting Director of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, assured that all the relevant documents of the areas related to this national project have been examined carefully and corruption has been prevented.

The New Kabul project is one and a half times larger than the current Kabul city. Designed in four sequential phases, the initial phase has been subdivided into five parcels, with the commencement of construction for the second parcel being marked on this occasion. Encompassing 740 jeribs of land, this parcel will house the construction of 2,300 residential units, accommodating approximately 12,000 individuals.

A private construction company is actively engaged in executing the second parcel of the initial phase within the New Kabul project. This significant endeavor is being closely overseen by the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing.

This initiative will generate direct and indirect employment opportunities for thousands of individuals.
