Afghanistan’s rich history is woven with numerous incidents and events that have shaped the nation’s path. Among these pivotal moments, there are certain days that hold significant importance, deserving remembrance and transmission to future generations. It is these very days that contribute to the fruitful and valuable tapestry of our nation’s history, evoking pride in its people.

The 10th of Hooth (Pisces) stands as one such historical and fateful day. On this day in 2018, the dark clouds of occupation were lifted from the heads of our oppressed nation, allowing the sun of freedom and independence to radiate from the clutches of time’s predators.

The world distinctly recalls this day when the self-proclaimed powerhouses, namely America and its allies, humbled themselves in the face of a group—the Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate—that was perceived as insignificant. They capitulated to the demands of the noble Afghan nation.

While some may not attach great significance to this event, for those who entered the war theater armed with the most advanced weaponry, equipped with air and ground forces, and wielding pride and arrogance, it was an arduous and challenging experience. They believed that the field was theirs, and their words resonated with force, asserting that no one possessed the audacity to stand against them.

However, they were unaware that the ancestors of these individuals, seemingly unarmed and lacking sophisticated weapons and ammunition, had previously humbled great empires such as England and the Soviet Union. Once again, they rose and played a role with their faith, courage, zeal, and unwavering conviction.

The 10th of Hooth marks the signing of the US withdrawal agreement from Afghanistan. Through this agreement, America was obliged to end its twenty-year occupation, thus signing its own defeat.

On this momentous day, a nation that had experienced multiple tyrannical occupations throughout history regained its independence. America and its coalition, who once believed they stood alone in this arena, had imposed various forms of oppression upon the Afghan people. They never envisioned a day when they would consent to such an agreement, departing from this land in a state of humiliation.

This agreement marked the end of the control exerted by individuals who willingly yielded Afghanistan to America. Although saddened and disheartened by the signing of this agreement, their sole ambition was to preserve their own positions and seats, rather than working for the benefit of the nation and the Afghan people.

They were content living under occupation but discontented with the prospect of residing in the shadow of an Islamic government, which promised complete trust and tranquility.
