Over 16 killed and wounded as armored tank, 3 APCs destroyed in Nahr Siraj

HELMAND, Sep. 07 – Reports arriving from Gerishk district state that a heavy gunfight broke out after combined enemy troops escorted by many tanks, APCs and vehicles arrived at Chargul Pump, Wazir Manda, Alakozo Shakh areas of Nahr Siraj region to reopen the Lashkargah highway overnight.
The clashes resulted in a hireling armored tank and 3 APCs destroyed by IEDs and direct attacks, leaving at least 16 gunmen killed or hurt and forcing the rest to flee.
Enemy claims of unblocking the rout are baseless. We warn all countrymen that highway is fully blocked off and contains landmines and hence not safe for any kind of journey.
