The world calls Afghanistan as ‘The graveyard of Empires’ the reason of which is that throughout history, the big empires have continuously been defeated here or at least the beginning of their downfall has begun from their misadventure in Afghanistan.
Over the past two centuries and after years of blood, sweat, and tears of the Afghan people, British Empire with all its glories drowned, followed by the great decline, breakdown and disintegration of the Soviet Union which is currently only confined to Russia.
In the 20th century, the American-led western world that considers itself the most civilized and prudent in politics made the blunder of invading Afghanistan. They used every possible tactic available including but not limited to spending huge amount of money and misleading people to make the Afghans follow their lead but despite all these efforts, they have not only fallen flat on their faces but have also failed to prevent public opposition and rebellion against them.
Like the past, many invading armies have still tried their luck in Afghanistan, resulting in the same consequences of being perished and vanquished without leaving any record to their specific countries and their heirs.
Recently several research centers, analysts and writers have commented on the presence of US troops in Afghanistan and have reached a conclusion after extensive investigations that America has been defeated in this war. The perception of Westerners especially American-politicians and Generals is that Mujahedeen are getting stronger and professional day-to-day whereas the invaders and stooge regime are collapsing and their writ deteriorating. They recommended to the US authorities to not waste more wealth and force in this futile war because the more they drag out the war, the more they will lose their power and influence.
Bush and Obama governments tried to keep secret the realities of the war, hiding them from their citizens and have struggled to mislead public about the real condition of Afghanistan.
New US officials should accept and acknowledge the existing realities of Afghanistan, immediately withdraw their forces and if they ignore the ground realities as the previous governments have done, history will repeat itself and Afghanistan would most definitely become their graveyard, Allah willing.
