Throughout its history, Afghanistan has been recognized as the land of courageous defenders of Islam and a place where the followers of evil meet their demise. The nation has witnessed numerous battles between right and wrong within its borders. However, the ultimate outcome has consistently proven that there are individuals in Afghanistan who willingly sacrifice their lives and possessions in order to safeguard Islam and the sanctity of the land.

On a significant date, Jadi 6, 1358 AH, the 40th Corps of the Soviet Union, under the command of Leonid Brezhnev, crossed Afghanistan’s northern borders. Eventually, during the tenure of Mikhail Gorbachev, the last Soviet leader, and in accordance with the Geneva Agreement (1367 AH), the withdrawal of Soviet troops commenced on Thor 25, 1367, concluding on Aquarius 26, 1367. This war inflicted immense casualties, resulting in over a million deaths and nearly five million refugees and displaced individuals.

Similar to other adversaries of Islam, the Soviet Union sought to eradicate the Afghan people’s deep-rooted love for Islam through the use of force and advanced technology. They attempted to replace genuine Islamic ideals with false slogans on the lips of the Afghan populace.

Nevertheless, the efforts of the Mujahideen and the bloodshed of martyrs dealt a severe blow and a historic defeat to the Soviet Union in this war, even though victory seemed implausible. Consequently, the second-largest empire of that era was vanquished by this valiant nation, and eventually, the third such power met a similar fate.

The bravery, unity, coincidences, and compassion exhibited by the Afghan Mujahideen nation shattered the formidable and technologically advanced Soviet army, underscoring the invincible power of faith. Afghan mothers, due to the sacrifices, hardships, endurance, and participation in the jihad against enemies of Islam, raise their children with a profound sense of purpose. History will bear witness to the remarkable sacrifices made by the people of Afghanistan.
