The Department of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock in Nangarhar Province has successfully completed the construction of five checkdams in the districts of Dara Noor, Behsudo, Durbaba, Koz Kunar, and Shinwaro. These checkdams, built at a cost of 10 million Afghani, aim to address water-related challenges in the region.

The recent rainfall has resulted in substantial water storage in these dams, which will be utilized to irrigate hundreds of acres of agricultural land.

The construction of these checkdams also provided employment opportunities for 200 individuals, contributing to local economic development and livelihoods.
