3 defensive posts overrun as base attacked in Maruf

KANDAHAR, Nov. 01 – According to reports from southern Kandahar province, Mujahideen carried out an attack on a hireling military base in Salsun area of Maruf district at around 8:45 pm local time on Monday.
Attacks of heavy and light arms lasted till early morning hours, resulting in 3 check post around the said base were completely overrun, inflecting heavy casualties to enemy and forcing them to flee while leaving 3 corpses on the battle ground.
It is said that 3 PKM machine guns, 2 RPG launchers, 2 AK 47 a large number of ammunition and other military equipment was recovered from the posts.
3 Mujahideen are said to have been wounded in the operation.
This comes after when a hireling APC of an enemy convoy was shred into pieces by roadside bomb attack close to Kandahar center earlier today, leaving 7 gunmen killed or hurt inside.
The said convoy which was arriving from Atghar district of Zabul province to Kandahar is under tight besiege of Mujahideen.
