KABUL, Feb. 22 – The Acting Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, met with the Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Sardor Omarzakov, and his accompanying delegation at the Presidential Palace this afternoon.

The meeting also attended by Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy Minister for Administration, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Nooruddin Azizi, Acting Minister of Industry and Trade. The two discussed extension of relations and cooperation between the two countries as well as implementation of important economic and transit projects.

The Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan called Uzbekistan a friendly and brotherly country of Afghanistan and hoped to overcome the existing problems and work together for the implementation of regional projects.

Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund asked the Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan to convey his greetings and best wishes to the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Sardar Omarzakov said that Afghanistan is an important part of Central and South Asia’s integration and the relevant agencies of the two countries will work together by taking practical steps for developing and implementation of joint projects and cooperation between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan in various fields. Deputy Prime Minister Mawlawi Abdul Salam Hanafi called Uzbekistan and Afghanistan close brothers and neighbors with similar historical, cultural and religious commonalities, adding that the Islamic Emirate is ready for any kind of cooperation in the implementation of economic and transit projects between the two countries.

Acting Foreign Minister Mawlaei Amir Khan Muttaqi briefed the guest about the new policy of the Islamic Emirate which is economic oriented and expressed that we want to turn Afghanistan into a hub of economic cooperation and regional integration.

 

Foreign Minister Muttaqi stressed that based on the new policy of the Islamic Emirate, we want Afghanistan to become the center and axis of regional and international cooperation in the future, not the competition of the great powers.
