KANDAHAR, Oct. 26 – Mawlwi Abdul Salam Hanafi, Deputy Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, met with a number of businessmen in Kandahar province this afternoon.

During the meeting, which was held at the Presidential Palace, the acting head of the Chamber of Commerce, Mohammad Yunus Momand, and Haji Daud, Haji Abdullah, Haji Sardar, Haji Azmat and Haji Gul Mohammad also participated.

They expressed their concern regarding closure of the Spin Boldag and Chaman gates which has hurt exports as well as hurting traders and the public. They also shared their concerns about Afghanistan’s frozen assets and called for solutions.

They also said that over the past 22 days, hundreds of vehicles loaded with food and medical supplies have been blocked in Chaman and Spin Boldak borders, causing huge economic losses to people and businesses.

Mr. Hanafi said that the relevant officials of Afghanistan and Pakistan are working to solve the problem of closed borders and efforts are underway to solve this problem by creating a specific mechanism, so that our Traders and investors cannot be more vulnerable.
