Construction and cleaning of various canals started in Kandahar

KANDAHAR, Dec. 26 – On Sunday morning, Haji Nematullah Hassan, Mayor of Kandahar, Mawlawi Mohibullah, Head of Kandahar Governor’s Office, local officials of WPF, representatives of KRO, a refugee organization in Kandahar, visited PD8 of Kandahar city. And officially launched three canal construction and  Ahmad Shahi canal cleaning projects.

During the inauguration ceremony of the projects, Kandahar Mayor Haji Nematullah Hassan briefed the audience about the projects and said that these projects are being implemented according to a special plan of Kandahar Municipality, which is funded by the World Food Program (WFP) Collaborates with the municipality.

Mawlawi Mohibullah, the head of the Kandahar Governor’s Office, first expressed his happiness over the launch of these projects and  thanked the officials who have cooperated with the Kandahar Municipality in financing and implementing these vital projects.

Residents of the area also expressed their happiness over the commencement of these projects and said that for years their houses were at risk of floods due to lack of canals and ditches. With the construction of these canals, there will be no more problems.
