Construction of 17 check dams worth over 300000 USD kicks off in Ghazni 

GHAZNI, Aug. 24 -According to the officials of the Department of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock of Ghazni the work of 17 check dams at the cost of 344270 US dollars has started in Waghz district of the province, said press office of Ghazni province.

Mawlwi Muhammad Hanif Idris, head of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock of Ghazni, says that the cost of these check dams will be bared by the Norwegian organization and over 3000 people will be provided with work.

According to Mr. Idris, the construction of these check dams will benefit Waghaz and neighboring districts and will significantly change groundwater levels.

These check dams are being built in Waghaz district of Ghazni while most of the farmers of this province are struggling due to the lack of water for cultivation in Ghazni province.
