HELMAND, Jan. 21 – A cotton processing factory has been inaugurated in capital Lashkargah’s Bolan area of southern Helmand province.

The factory which has been inaugurated in presence of officials and industrialist has been built during eight months at the cost of 65 million AFN  providing direct and indirect employment for over 200 people.

This factory has the capacity of processing three tons of cotton per hour and the capacity to produce cotton cake, oil and soap as well.

Helmand Commerce and Industry Association Head Ghulam Yahya Pashton said currently around 41 factories are functioning in the province in which 3,500 people are employed.

Helmand residents believed the construction of factories was the need of hour and demanded the empowerment of this sector.
