The Acting Minister of Energy and Water, H.E. Alhaj Mullah Abdul Latif “Mansoor”, met with the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Afghanistan, Honorable Zhao Xing.
Also present in the meeting were Deputy Minister of Water, Honorable Mujib ur Rahman Umar Akhundzada, the official advisor of the Ministry, Honorable Dr. Farooq Azam, and a number of technical officials. They discussed joint cooperation for implementing projects in the fields of water and energy.
During the meeting, both sides highlighted the excellent economic and trade relations between the two countries and exchanged ideas on developing joint cooperation, particularly focusing on investment in the Baghdera Power Dam in Kapisa province and the Sarubi 2 Power Dam projects to provide necessary electricity for the Mis Aynak project in Logar province.
The Acting Minister of Energy and Water emphasized the necessity of implementing these projects to provide electricity for the Mis Aynak project and assured that the Ministry of Energy and Water is prepared for their implementation.
H.E. Mansoor stressed the importance of expediting the process to commence practical works and indicated that if Chinese companies demonstrate the required seriousness and determination in implementing these projects, the ministry will sign more project agreements for investment with Chinese companies in the future.
Simultaneously, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China pledged cooperation to the leadership of the ministry in implementing these projects and promised that Chinese companies would take necessary measures to invest in them.
