HELMAND, Nov. 14 – Baghran, a mountainous district in the north of Helmand province, located at a distance of 210 kilometers from the capital Lashkar Gah which has been without access to education, health, agriculture and other services for the past four decades.

The education system in the district is at a standstill. No school has been built in the district since the reign of Mohammad Zahir Shah. Now with the advent of the Islamic Emirate, two new schools have been opened in the district.

Mawlawi Mohammad Ismail (Saadat), Deputy Head of Education Department of Helmand Province, while talking to media, said; In Baghran district, these schools have been made functional for the first time, and they will be turned into high schools and students will be able to study up to 12th grade.

He says he has signed a three-year contract with UNICEF and currently operates 15 rural classrooms in Baghran district in addition to modern education, 16 religious schools are also operating regularly in Baghran district in which about 440 students are enrolled in religious studies.
