NANGARHAR, Feb. 26 – According to the Ministry of Interior’s Deputy Director of Narcotics Control, this year, 9,000 acres of poppies grown in the province of Nangarhar have been eradicated said Mullah Abdul Haq Akhundzadeh, the Deputy Chief Constable of the Ministry of Interior for  fight against narcotics at a meeting held on the fight against narcotics in the PD6 of Jalalabad city on Saturday.

This meeting, which was held in connection with the public announcement of the decree issued by the Esteemed Amir-ul-Momineen of the Islamic Emirate, in which a ban has been imposed on the tax, business, sale, and purchase of narcotics, also included officials from the Ministry of Interior and Nangarhar as well as tribal leaders and regular citizens of the province.

Mullah Abdul Haq Akhundzadeh, Deputy Chief of the Ministry of Interior, Narcotics Control, said that according to the Decree No. 405 of Amirul Momineen, which was issued at the end of 1442, the cultivation, business, and purchase of all kinds of narcotics throughout the country is prohibited. And the sale is closed and violators will be dealt with according to the law.

 

He claimed that although poppy cultivation has been eradicated from 9000 acres of land in Nangarhar, there is still some remaining area in the districts of Nazani, Spinghar, and Achin that will be eradicated shortly.

 

The local officials of Nangarhar also assured that they will intensify their efforts in the fields of poppy cultivation, smuggling and drug prevention.
