KANDAHAR, Feb. 01 – Mujahideen carried out as assault on a hireling check post in Zangitan area of Shawalikot district overnight, amid ongoing ‘Omari’ annual campaign. Attacks of heavy and light arms resulted in the check post overrun after a brief resistance, killing 3 puppets on the spot and wounding 2 others as well as forcing the rest to flee. A PKM machine gun, 3 rifles, 1 pistol and other ammunition were confiscated in the operation. It is mention able that another check post was also overrun in the said district Monday night.
