Canals repair and cleaning works completed in Kunar

KUNAR, Dec. 08 – Under supervision of the Department of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock of Kunar Province, with the financial support of the UNDP, the Islamic Relief Organization has completed cleaning of 4.5km canals and construction of 220 meters of retaining wall at coast of 3.7 millions AFN in Manogi District.

The cleaning of kilometers of canals and the construction of 220 meters of retaining walls and barriers were completed and put to use during a series of ceremony attended by  Mawlawi Jan Muhammad, the special representative of the province, representatives of the Islamic Relief Foundation and tribal leaders.

Engineer Shirullah, the charge of the project, said that 1,200 families in limits of Richlam village use this canal, which will irrigate 600 hectares of land.
