Cotton processing, oil production factory opens in Kandahar

KANDAHAR, Jan. 29.- According to local officials, a facility in Kandahar has started producing oil and processing cotton.

According to details, the factory has the capacity to process 12 tonnes of oil and 32 tonnes of cotton in a day. Providing employment to Fifty workers.

Haji Habibullah Habibyar, the factory manager, laments the absence of electricity and claims that as a result, he only works eight hours every day.

We take this coarse cotton from Helmand, to this machine, where we extract seeds and oil from it. In Kandahar, there are now 27 factories that process cotton. According to regular individuals, expanding the number of these factories would be quite advantageous for our nation.

Haji Yar Mohammad Rahmani, Deputy Director of Kandahar Chamber of Mines and Industries, says that this year we have 300,000 tons of cotton in Kandahar, which has benefited the farmers of the southern zone.
