Last week, in a long report on Afghanistan, the ever-optimistic United Nations Secretary-General Anthony Guterres decided to shed some light on the challenges and insecurities faced by our country, painting a bleak picture of the situation. Apparently, we have a modest 6-7 million internally displaced people roaming around, Daesh, troublemakers, have generously treated us to tens of attacks, and our security forces have had the pleasure of facing double that amount of attacks from other fronts as well. there’s more! We’ve had the pleasure of experiencing floods that only managed to damage a mere half of our beloved country, Of course, we can’t forget the millions of individuals who bid farewell to our lovely nation due to the lack of job opportunities., And let’s not overlook the millions more who are battling illnesses, and a staggering 97 percent of our population goes to bed each night with a growling stomach.
In short every voice, every report from the international community seems to be competing to paint the most heartbreakingly tragic picture of our dear country. It’s truly a one-of-a-kind spectacle that no other place on this planet can even dream of matching.
Perhaps, a few individuals who lack comprehensive knowledge about the true essence of this society may perceive such reports based on human emotions and empathy, many Afghans, particularly those who are illiterate, firmly believe that these accounts are false, biased, and sensationalized. Most people are well aware of the hidden and apparent motives of those claiming to help Afghanistan. It is possible that such individuals are driven by personal gain, collecting salaries for officials of their agencies. They may hold political differences with the current Afghan system and aim to discredit it, painting it as inefficient and incapable. Additionally, they may seek to portray the Islamic system, both to the Islamic world and the Western nations, as plagued with problems and evils. Undoubtedly, these assessments are accurate and not far from reality their primary objective is also to unsettle the Afghan population. The spread of such negative propaganda leads to widespread misinformation, heightened anxiety, and a disillusionment among people towards their own country.
Consequently, individuals may become hesitant to pursue even small endeavors due to the prevailing negative sentiments and investors, who exhibits a higher degree of caution and conservatism compared to others, upon hearing such unsettling news, they promptly opt to withdraw from the situation.
Therefore, it is crucial for all Afghan citizens, especially those who are knowledgeable and well-informed, to firmly understand that the enemy aims to squander this golden opportunity for security, peace, and development. It is essential not to lend an ear to such narratives and instead remain dedicated to our work and the betterment of our nation.
