Construction work has commenced in Kandahar province on a canal, retaining wall, water control gates, and eight sluice gates, with a total cost exceeding 29 million Afghanis.

In the Qabat village of Ghansh Maiwand district within Kandahar province, a comprehensive project is underway involving the construction of a canal spanning 7 kilometers, a 63-meter-long retaining wall, eight sluice gates, and two large and small water control gates, totaling 29,182,812 Afghanis.

The completion timeline for this initiative is set at 8 months, after which it will be operational. Once finished, this project is poised to address agricultural challenges faced by local residents, mitigate canal damage, and curb water loss in the area.

Employment opportunities have been generated through this project, overseen by the Kandahar Provincial Water and Energy Department and financially supported by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
