In his opening address, the Honorable Governor of Balkh expressed gratitude to the Uzbekistan officials for their visit to Afghanistan’s Balkh province. He emphasized the close proximity and border linkages between Balkh and Sarkhandarya, underscoring the necessity for strengthening their relations. The Governor highlighted the significance of enhancing ties due to the substantial transit, railway connections, trade activities, and movement of traders between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan. He stressed the importance of such diplomatic engagements for bolstering the economy, facilitating trade, and resolving issues.

Reflecting on Afghanistan’s recent history, the Governor noted the nation’s liberation from invaders four years ago after enduring two decades of conflict. He acknowledged the current peace and security under the Islamic Emirate, attributing the guidance of Sheikh Sahib, the Emirate’s leader, in fostering positive relations with neighboring countries. The Governor expressed a heartfelt desire for closer ties with Uzbekistan, pledging support and cooperation across various sectors for mutual benefit. He advocated for accelerated efforts in constructing and expanding the Imam Bukhari Madrasa in Balkh province.

Conversely, the Governor of Sarkhandarya province of Uzbekistan shared his delight during the meeting, emphasizing the joint commitment to bolster relations and sustain collaborative efforts in commerce, politics, economics, and social domains. He highlighted the enduring ties between the two nations, which have been further reinforced following the triumph of the Islamic Emirate. With the establishment of comprehensive security in Afghanistan post-victory, cooperation has ensured a safe border between the countries. Uzbekistan has historically supported Afghanistan in commercial, economic, and developmental endeavors, aiming to facilitate the nation’s progress.
