The Ministry of Industry and Commerce has declared that Afghanistan has attained self-sufficiency in steel production, leading to a deal where Turkmenistan will import 150,000 tons of steel from Afghanistan by 2025. Ministry spokesperson Akhundzada Abdul Salam Jawad revealed that 60,000 tons of steel produced in Afghanistan were exported to Pakistan last year, and a contract has been finalized with Turkmenistan for the export of 150,000 tons of steel this year.

 

Mr. Akhundzada further mentioned that approximately 4,000 individuals are currently employed in steel manufacturing plants. Over the past three years, significant emphasis has been placed on achieving self-reliance in this sector, with substantial investments totaling millions of dollars directed towards its growth, alongside other industries.
