The opening ceremony of the book fair was attended by prominent figures, including the Head of Kandahar’s Information and Culture Department, Maulvi Inamullah Samangani; President of Kandahar University, Sheikh Al-Hadith Maulvi Abdul Rahman Tayyabi; Deputy Director of Education, Maulvi Akram Shah Asim; Head of the Afghan Wireless Communication Network in the Southwest Zone, Nisar Ahmad Rahimi; Head of the Booksellers Union, Hekmatullah Hekmat; as well as writers, poets, and hundreds of book enthusiasts.

 

In his welcoming remarks, Maulvi Inamullah Samangani highlighted the decline in the market for physical books and the tradition of reading compared to previous years. He emphasized that it is a collective social responsibility to revitalize the market for physical books and ensure that literature reaches the hands of the younger generation.
