Thousands of families receive assistance in 5 province

AFGHANISTAN, Sep. 16 – A number of charities in Parwan, Paktia, Helmand, Laghman, Kunar and Nangarhar provided food and cash assistance to thousands of families.

The World Food Organization, in coordination with the Disaster Management Department of Nangarhar Province, distributed food aid to 2,335 families affected by the recent floods in Kama, Bati Kot, Chaparhar, Rudatu, Goshte and Sarh Rud districts of the said province. .

These donations included, 100 kg of flour, 10 liters of oil, 12.5 kg of beans, 1 kg of salt and biscuits for each family.

Afghan Red Crescent has also donated food to 600 flood-affected families in the center of Nangarhar.

Meanwhilr, the World Food Organization distributed food items to 3,400 needy families in Parwan’s Siah Gard district and 420 flood-affected families in the center and districts of Laghman.

At the same time, [IOM] distributed cash to 315 flood-affected families in Paktia where $105 were distributed to each family.

The DRC organization has helped 250 earthquake victims in Kunar. 28,000 Afghanis have been distributed to each family.

AHH organization provided cash assistance to needy families in Gershak, Helmand.

It is worth noting that thousands of families have been affected by earthquakes, floods and poverty in many areas of the country and they are in great need of assistance.
