Ministry of Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Complaints Hearing Department issued a video of Summary of Three Years of Progress in Combating Violence Against Women and Upholding Their Fundamental Rights

1. Safeguarding Women’s Rights:

Over the past three years, through the diligent work of the ombudsmen at the Ministry of Promotion of Virtue, Prevention of Vice, and Grievance Resolution, the inheritance, dowry, and other essential rights of approximately 20,000 women, who had been deprived of these entitlements due to erroneous cultural practices, traditions, and unwarranted jealousy, have been secured.

Within the last six months alone, 1,000 incidents have been officially documented and successfully addressed.

2. Deterrence of Coerced Marriages:

During the preceding three years, the ministry has averted 5,000 marriages wherein women were compelled to wed for financial gain, due to health conditions, or where underage girls were forced into unions with much older individuals.

In the recent six-month period, 500 incidents of this nature have been identified and prevented.

3. Mitigation of Domestic Violence:

The ministry’s efforts have yielded tangible results in curtailing domestic violence against women, encompassing practices such as belittlement, mental and physical abuse, denial of religious freedoms, and the prevention of degrading conduct rooted in baseless traditions.

Over the past six months, 1,000 instances of such abuse have been documented and effectively resolved.
