Statement of Islamic Emirate regarding assistance to Afghan people in Geneva

An international conference about humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan is planned to take place in Geneva on the 23rd-24th of November, 2020.

The persecuted Afghan nation is in need of humanitarian assistance more than anyone else at this moment in time. The Islamic Emirate has constantly striven for the welfare of its people, has and will continue to request and welcome genuine aid offered by the international community, and has also offered services and support in delivering aid to those in need. However, if aid is solicited in the name of the people and the country yet not delivered to those in need, but deposited into the pockets of specific Kabul administration individuals akin to what has unfortunately transpired for the past two decades and about which numerous investigations and reports have been published by reputable international organizations, then in such a case where aid is solicited in the name of the people but not delivered to them, the Islamic Emirate neither calls for nor supports such actions.

Therefore, we request the international community and organizations at large to deliver aid, collected in the name of the people, to the people.

In order that such assistance can be distributed in a transparent and just manner to those most deserving, we recommend that international NGOs deliver aid in coordination with the Islamic Emirate.

The Islamic Emirate stands ready to offer all assistance in this regard, considers such its duty and has frequently communicated this policy with countries and international organizations offering aid.

In the end, the Islamic Emirate thanks and appreciates aid by all countries, nations, organizations and individuals that have assisted and extended support to our distressed people in trying times.
