Statement by Commission for Agriculture, Livestock, Ushr and Zakat regarding tree plantation

The geographical built of our homeland — which mainly relies on agriculture and forests — has suffered extensive damage due to foreign invasions.

The air of our beloved homeland has been polluted and poisoned due to the use of explosives and chemical materials in the forty-year war and wilderness has also suffered irreparable losses due to the extinction or migration of animals and birds.

Cleaning air pollution, increasing oxygen levels and fresh water supplies and decreasing the risks of landslides and floods can only be achieved through a green Afghanistan.

Allah (SWT) has tasked us with developing the land [هُوَ أَنشَأَكُم مِّنَ الْأَرْضِ وَاسْتَعْمَرَكُمْ فِيهَا] and our Great Prophet (peace be upon him) has identified tree plantation an enduring charity and emphasized upon it in the saying:

عن أنس رضي الله عنه قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: “إن قامت الساعة وبيد أحدكم فسيلة، فإن استطاع أن لا يقوم حتى يغرسها فليفعل”. رواه احمد

If the hour was established upon one of you while he has in his hand a sapling, then let him plant it. (Ahmad)

Moreover, the Commission for Agriculture, Livestock, Ushr and Zakat of the Islamic Emirate plants millions of Afghani (currency) worth saplings annually as per the decree of Amir Ul Mumineen Sheikhul Hadith Mawlawi Hibatullah Akhundzada (may Allah protect him).

Therefore, we once again declare our commitment to the project and remind our fellow citizens to plant trees to the best of their capabilities which would not only allow us to partake in environmental development, executing the command of our Holy Prophet (PBUH) and showing obedience (to leader) but also give us an opportunity to participate in eradicating air pollution and working for a brighter future so that our homeland can take steps towards rehabilitation and prosperity.
