BALKH, Feb. 04 – In Mazar-i-Sharif, the provincial capital of northern Balkh province, a new slaughterhouse has been opened at a cost of $6,000,000, said local officials of agriculture and live stock.

 

The facility was constructed on 12.5 acres of land and can slaughter 3,500 small and 600 large animals in a 24-hour period, according to Nasratullah Yousufzai, who is in charge of the slaughterhouse.

Additionally, the facility had offered employment opportunities to over 300 people.

 

People will be able to purchase fresh meat from this facility, according to acting Agriculture Minister Mawlavi Attaullah Umari.

 

He claimed that because most animals in the nation are butchered in an inhumane manner, some diseases spread from animals to people and resulted in the loss of past lives.

Mazar-i-Sharif The slaughterhouse, according to Mayor Naqibullah Tariq, had all the necessary amenities and complied with all standards.
