According to the Russian ambassador to Afghanistan, bilateral trade between Russia and Afghanistan has experienced substantial growth. In an interview with the Russian TASS news agency, Dmitri Zhirnov stated that cooperation between Moscow and Kabul in the field of oil production has already commenced and is expanding.

These remarks were made in response to recent statements from Afghan officials expressing their intention to enhance collaboration with Russia in the areas of food security and oil production.

The Russian ambassador in Kabul highlighted that bilateral trade has multiplied several times, attributing this primarily to Russia’s increased export of various goods to Afghanistan, including wheat, flour, oil, and motor oil. Additionally, it was mentioned that Afghanistan’s Comair private airline has expressed interest in establishing direct flights from Kabul to Moscow, and Russia stands ready to provide assistance if needed.

The growing trade relations between Afghanistan and Russia, coupled with the exploration of new avenues for cooperation, reflect the mutual commitment to strengthening economic ties and fostering bilateral partnerships in various sectors.
