Significant Advancements in Infrastructure Revealed in Ministry of Public Works Annual Report

During a press conference at the Government Media and Information Center, Ministry of Public Works officials presented their annual performance report.

They announced that contracts for reconstructing around 1,000 kilometers of roads were finalized last year, with the Kabul-Kandahar highway rehabilitation in progress.

Achievements include:

– Preliminary surveys for 604.1 kilometers of roads.
– Topographical mapping of 321.65 kilometers.
– Observational surveys of 997.4 kilometers.
– Completion of design for 279.48 kilometers of roads and 160 meters of bridges.
– Initiation of design work for 244.8 kilometers of roads.

Over the past year, development and infrastructure projects have created over 15,000 jobs.

Key projects underway, funded by the Islamic Emirate, include:

– 80-kilometer Salang Highway.
– 108-kilometer Kandahar-Uruzgan highway.
– 50-kilometer Trinkot-Dehrawud road.
– 80-kilometer Maruf-Argistan road.

Prioritized projects:

– Second lot of the Herat-Chisht Sharif road (30 kilometers).
– Second, fourth, and fifth lots of the Qaisar-Laman ring road (151 kilometers).

Maintenance work has been completed on 85 out of 109 projects, with 1,698 kilometers of asphalt roads repaired.

A contract was signed for the first phase of the fourth section of the Khaf-Herat railway, with major repairs to the Hairatan-Mazar-e-Sharif route. The second phase of the Khaf-Herat railway is a priority.

Completed projects include the 15-kilometer Farkhar-Warsaj road and a 300-meter bridge in Nimroz province. Ongoing projects include the 10-kilometer Gardez-Zurmat road and the second lane of the Kabul-Logar highway (24.15 kilometers), contracted to private firms.
