Acting Minister of Internal Affairs Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Security Council of the Russian Federation and his accompanying delegation, according to ministry of interior.

Present at the meeting were Sergei Shoigu, the Secretary General of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Alexei Aurchowk, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia for Economic Affairs, Zamir Kabulov, Russian Special Representative for Afghanistan, Dmitry Zhirnov, Russian Ambassador to Afghanistan, along with several other dignitaries.

During the discussions, the two parties engaged in in-depth conversations covering political, security, and economic matters. Mr. Shoigu reassured that the Russian government is in the final stages of delisting the Taliban movement, formerly known as the Islamic Emirate, from the list of prohibited organizations. He expressed optimism that this process would swiftly conclude, fostering enhanced relations between the two nations across various sectors.

Highlighting the significance of Afghanistan’s security for the region, Mr. Shoigu emphasized that a peaceful Afghanistan presents a valuable opportunity for regional prosperity and the advancement of economic ties.

Khalifa Sirajuddin Haqqani, warmly welcomed the Russian delegation, characterizing the visit of the esteemed Russian officials as a positive and meaningful gesture. He expressed hopes that the visit would further fortify bilateral relations in diverse domains.

In his address, Mr. Haqqani underscored the Afghan people’s newfound independence and control over their political future, emphasizing their capacity to make autonomous decisions. He articulated aspirations not solely for a tranquil Afghanistan but also for stability and prosperity throughout the region.

Khalifa Sahib remarked that following the cessation of the occupation in Afghanistan, hostilities have ceased, and all destabilizing factors have been eradicated. Consequently, he advocated for the region to capitalize on this opportune moment for advancement.
