KABUL, Dec. 20 -The Russian Presidential Special Envoy to Afghanistan, Mr. Zamir Kabulov, paid a visit to the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s Foreign Minister, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi. During the meeting, the discussions primarily focused on strengthening bilateral relations, promoting trade growth, and encouraging the participation of the Afghan government in regional and international mechanisms, as stated by Abdul Qahar Balkhi, the spokesperson of the foreign ministry.

Foreign Minister Muttaqi expressed gratitude for Russia’s supportive stance on Afghanistan in international forums, emphasizing the growing strength of Russo-Afghan relations. He reiterated the importance of enhancing bilateral trade ties and expressed Afghanistan’s readiness to facilitate the movement of Russian goods to South Asia following the restoration of the Salang Pass.

The Russian Special Envoy highlighted that some countries aim to advance their own agendas through the creation of new mechanisms. However, he emphasized that no actions should be taken without the agreement of the Afghan government. He further stated that if any country has concerns or issues with Afghanistan, they should address them through bilateral discussions with the Afghan government.

Furthermore, Mr. Kabulov mentioned that certain countries perceive the expansion of regional cooperation with the Afghan government and attempt to exploit regional issues by establishing new mechanisms.

Mr. Kabulov stressed that the United States of America should release Afghanistan’s bank reserves, and let these reserves contribute to Afghanistan’s economy.

To end, expressing readiness for Afghan businessmen to travel to Russia & explore business opportunities between the two countries, Mr. Kabulov said that Russia is ready to expand trade relations with Afghanistan.
