Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, the Acting Minister of Refugees and Repatriation Affairs, held a meeting with Ms. Mutia Maskun, the Deputy Director of the International Organization for Migration in Afghanistan, along with her accompanying delegation. During this session, which focused on the status of Afghan refugees and internally displaced persons, Ms. Mutia Maskun presented the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees’ work plan for the ongoing fiscal year to Mawlawi Abdul Kabir.

Expressing worries about the involuntary removal of Afghan refugees from neighboring nations, Ms. Mutia Maskun highlighted the efforts of the United Nations organization to deliver essential monetary and material support to Afghan refugees in the refugee sector. She also affirmed the International Organization for Refugees’ commitment to setting up necessary facilities at the borders prior to any potential influx of refugees from Pakistan, intending to enhance coordination with pertinent agencies of the Islamic Emirate for more effective aid provision.

Welcoming the delegation from the International Organization for Migration, Mawlawi Abdul Kabir commended Italy’s recent aid for Afghan refugees and stressed the significance of the United Nations’ humanitarian assistance in aiding refugees and internally displaced individuals in Afghanistan. The Minister underscored the Islamic Emirate’s ongoing endeavors to address migration challenges.

He emphasized the necessity for collaboration and support from relevant institutions in rebuilding settlements for refugees, mentioning that the coerced expulsion of Afghan refugees from neighboring countries has disrupted aid distribution within Afghanistan.
