KABUL, Mar. 15 – The foundation stone of a new mosque has been laid by Honorable Mullah Muhammad Hassan Akhund, the Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, today.

The head of the top authority of the prime minister’s office and his deputies were present for the new Arg mosque’s opening ceremony, The Honorable Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan then led a lengthy and in-depth prayer as he laid the  foundation stone for the new Mosque of the Arg (presedential Palac).

It should be kept in mind that the new mosque of the Arg is on 1060 square metres of land, including the green space, and that the structure itself is 627 square metres in size. First-rate stone from Chusht Sharif district of Herat, Helmand’s marble, Maidan Wardak’s stone, and wood from Kunar and Nooristan make up the interior construction components.

 

In the new mosque, a library and a teaching place have been planned for the worshipers. In addition to the heating center, there will be hot and cold water facilities, electricity, internet and a room to control the sound system.

This mosque will have a capacity of 1,500 worshipers and has a dome and four minarets, which will be completed within a year.
