PAKTIA, Mar. 12 –  The Department of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock and Environmental Protection Agency initiated a planting campaign called “success and development” today, Sunday, during a meeting in Paktia.

According to Mawlawi Abdul Rauf Saeed, director of Paktia Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, 30,000 fruit-bearing and non-fruit-bearing trees would be planted in central Gardez and surrounding districts in the year 1402, replacing thousands of hectares of lost woods. He claims that several organisations have also pledged to give gardeners saplings.

According to Saeed, the Department of Agriculture’s permanent forest and land management initiative restored 917 hectares of forest in 1402, and 13 forestry communities received 2700800 saplings of four different tree species.

In a same manner, throughout the province 12,660 both productive and nonproductive plants have been planted.

Mawlawi Inamullah Salahuddin, the deputy governor of Paktia, stated during this conference that planting and protecting trees jointly is crucial for the country’s population, fertility, and independence. He expressed his joy over the seedlings being planted this year amid an atmosphere of peace and cooperation.

Mawlawi Abdul Hadi Hidayat, the provincial head of environmental protection, insisted that everyone should plant one sapling and care for it for the benefit of the nation’s development. He referred to trees as crucial for preserving the ecosystem.
