Over 16 killed or hurt, equipment seized as 2 posts overrun in Kandahar

KANDAHAR, Aug. 31 – At around 10:00 pm local time on Tuesday a hireling check post located on  the border of Maruf and Arghistan district came under a Mujahideen attack.
Attack of heavy and light arms left the check post overrun, 6 killed and 2 others wounded inside.
A heavy machine gun, 1 RPG launcher, 6 rifles, 1 communication device, 1 mine detector, 1500 PKM rounds, 1000 ammo, 10 RPG rounds and other war tools were confiscated from the check post.
Likewise another check post in Wam area of Arghistan district was overrun after being attacked by Mujahideen overnight, killing 8 gunmen on the spot and seizing an APC, 1 ranger pickup, 1 Dshk, 1 RPG, 10 rifles, 2 pistols and other war equipment from the check post.
2 Mujahideen are said to have been wounded in the operation.
