Over 15 killed as key post overrun in Garmsir, equipment seized

HELMAND, Aug. 27 – Amid ongoing ‘Operation Omari’, Mujahideen carried out an assault on a strategic check post of border police in Torghondi area of Garmsir district Friday midnight.
Attacks of heavy and light arms lasted for about 45 minutes, overrunning the check post, killing 15 puppets inside and forcing the rest to flee while leaving 13 corpses on the battle ground.
2 APCs, 4 PKM machine guns, 4 rifles, 1 RPG launcher with 15 rounds, 15 boxes of heavy machine gun rounds and other equipment was recovered.
Mujahideen suffered no casualties in the operation.
