A few days ago, an American lawyer Bruce Fein who is expert in international law published an article in Washington times, saying that “Afghan war is as unwinnable as was Vietnam and after 16 years, there is no light at the end of the tunnel”.
He adds that the Afghan puppet government is corrupt, inept, tribal and unpopular. He continues to say that opium production is soaring and elections were earmarked by massive fraud.
This American writer believes that the departure of US troops from Afghanistan will not put the United States at risk. “We departed from Vietnam without inciting aggression against us. We departed our troops from Subic Bay Naval Base and Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines without triggering an attack”. He says, “if president Trump ended our involvement in Afghanistan war, he would deserve a noble peace prize, unlike president Obama’s 2009 noble, which made a mockery of peace”.
Recently, many writers at world’s level have written articles about American meaningless war in Afghanistan, believing that the war in Afghanistan could not be won by surge of troops because this bitter and failed experience has been tried once before. Similarly, world’s public opposition to the occupation of Afghanistan is ascending growing.
Resistance against the occupation inside Afghanistan is on increase with the passage of each day. America may give any name to her occupation but the Afghans know that their country is occupied and decisions are made in Washington.
Despite one and a half decade of war in Afghanistan and expenditures of more than one trillion dollars, as the US claims, the intensification of fighting in the country shows that none can subjugate nations merely by use of weapons nor could anyone grab their legitimate rights by force i.e. their right of independence of their country and a system based on inspiration and beliefs of the people.
People could not be deceived by slogans of America anymore because they themselves see the wide gap between the rich and the poor and the human rights violations occurring everyday during night raids, blind bombardments and in prisons. All these acts have harmed the former credibility and reputation of America in Afghanistan and the world.
If America want honorable solution of the afghan issue, they should withdraw their troops from Afghanistan and do not continue to further harm their reputation and credibility at world’s level by imposing a corrupt, unpopular and puppet government on the people. Leave the Afghans to decide their own future and gather around their shared Islamic and national values.
