KANDAHAR, Dec. 07 –  A new cotton processing factory has started working in the industrial park of Kandahar, after being inaugurated by high government officials.

This factory, is a jointly venture by Haji Yar Mohammad Rahmani and Haji Habibullah Habibi, with cost of 55 million AFN.

The factory can process 32 tons of cotton, two tons of oil, 20 tons of animal feed and two and a half tons of cotton in 8 hours, providing employment opportunities to over 500 families directly or indirectly.

The raw materials of the said factory come from the agricultural products of the country. Cotton is exported to foreign countries and oil, animal feed and soap are used inside the country.

Currently, there are 27 cotton processing factories operating in Kandahar Industrial Park, which have invested approximately 16 million dollars, providing employment to 1,500 people directly and 3,000 people indirectly.
