The Convention, which is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, is the oldest international convention on cancer control.

The convention will cooperate in different areas of the national cancer control program such as claiming the right to control cancer, cooperation in the development and creation of strategies and policies for cancer control in accordance with national and international strategies, cancer incidence Development of preventive strategies at the community level for reduction, early diagnosis of cancer cases, standardization of cancer diagnosis and treatment, supportive treatment or palliative care, collection of accurate cancer data and capacity building of health workers.

It is worth noting that the National Cancer Control Program was a member of this convention in the previous government, but due to political changes, the National Cancer Control Program was included in the black list of this convention. It had lost its membership in the convention, and with the tireless efforts of the officials of the National Cancer Control Program, this national program was removed from the black list and became a full member of this convention for the year 2023.
