On this day five years ago another beacon of Afghanistan’s independence and freedom was gone. On this day five years ago, the second Amir and leader of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mullah Akhtar Muhammad Mansoor (may Allah accept him) was martyred and the Islamic Emirate was orphaned in militarily, politically and administratively. The loss on this day was however an irreparable loss for the freedom fighters and common people of Afghanistan because they lost an important leader. Praise be to Allah, this leader left behind a legacy of deeds and principles for the Emirate and its fighters, which will be recorded in the name of Mullah Akhtar Muhammad Mansoor until eternity.

He was a leader who, based on his political and military acumen, established an exemplary administrative, political and military framework in a timespan of six years which rivaled the regime in Kabul supported by a global coalition of disbelievers. As a result of his hard work, we saw that people in every part of the country, all citizens of every ethnic group, found themselves in the mirror of the Islamic Emirate and, in addition to internal opponents, he convinced the majority of the international community that the struggle of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan against the invaders and as a whole is justified. No matter how much we talk about Amir ul Momineen Mullah Akhtar Muhammad Mansoor (may Allah accept him) and praise his deeds, his great personality, fighting spirit and strong faith, it cannot be accommodated in few paragraphs because he was the leader who made the Islamic Emirate shine in difficult circumstances and steered it in challenging and turbulent times.

When he was appointed as the deputy leader by Amir ul Momineen Mullah Muhammad Umar Mujahid (RH) in the year 2010, it was a critical juncture for the resistance of Afghans. At the time, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan was under immense physical and propaganda pressure as waves upon waves of fresh invaders were deployed to subdue and ultimately crush the Afghan resistance. The enemies used every possible means to weaken, divide and defeat the Emirate, but praise be to Allah who supported Mullah Akhtar Muhammad Mansoor thwart all enemy plans and halt their advances. Moreover, following the demise of Mullah Muhammad Umar Mujahid (RH) when the spiritual and practical affairs of the Islamic Emirate were entrusted to him and he was sworn in as the leader, there were several challenges and difficulties. On one hand, there was the revolt of some power hungry individuals and the emergence ISIS cult commonly known as Daesh, and on the other, the occupiers intensified their military and propaganda war by propping new terrorists and creating various groups and militias. But despite these emerging challenges, obstacles and difficulties, he led the Islamic Emirate with firm determination and resolve, neutered enemy plans and eliminated the enemies of Afghanistan. He withstood all the challenges and stood up to the disbelievers and corrupt elements like a mountain. At that time he wrote an open letter to American people to put pressure on their government so that they end the occupation of Afghanistan.

Today as we see that the Islamic Emirate gaining regional and international recognition of its position, it is all due to  the sacrifices of leaders like Mullah Akhtar Muhammad Mansoor (may Allah accept him). His soldiers are working tirelessly for the fulfillment of his aspirations and God willing, Afghans will soon have independence, sovereignty and an Islamic system in Afghanistan.
