During a press conference at the Government Information and Media Center, officials from the Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation shared their annual performance report.

They highlighted that, following the Supreme Leader’s directive, a High Commission was established to address Afghan migrants’ challenges. This commission has facilitated essential services for returning migrants over the past year.

According to ministry officials, 1,779,603 individuals have returned to Afghanistan from Iran, Pakistan, and other countries. Additionally, 788,821 internally displaced and returning families received financial and non-financial assistance, with arrangements for relocating 96,293 families to designated areas.

Officials noted that the ministry’s efforts led to the release and return of 5,766 Afghan migrants imprisoned in Pakistan and Turkey, and 4,000 detained in Iran. Furthermore, arrangements were made for 600 Afghan migrants in Pakistan and Iran to complete their Hajj pilgrimage.

Over the past year, 13 residential townships have been cleared for migrant settlement, with necessary facilities provided. To tackle migrant issues, MoUs were signed with 93 partner organizations, 7 agencies, and 14 educational institutions.

The ministry’s key priorities for the current year include addressing migrant challenges, facilitating voluntary returns, organizing capacity-building programs, providing essential living amenities in migrant settlements, and resolving legal issues.
