During a press briefing at the Government Media and Information Center, officials from the Ministry of Martyrs and Disabled Affairs presented their annual performance report.

According to the ministry, a total of 15,407,382,708 Afghanis were disbursed in monthly cash aid to 612,088 widows, orphans, and disabled individuals over the past year.

It was also highlighted that 89,442 individuals from these groups received food and non-food assistance from various aid organizations to improve the quality of support.

In the previous year, the ministry engaged in partnerships with 67 aid organizations, resulting in services worth a combined total of 4.5 million USD being extended to those in need.

The report disclosed that 653,265 orphans, widows, and disabled individuals were identified, with 264,335 of them registered in the central system and across provinces thus far.

Furthermore, 28,183 ineligible individuals were identified and consequently removed from the system through the verification process conducted in the past year.

The ministry directed 990 individuals to hospitals and health facilities for medical care while 3,885 others received services like prosthetics, physiotherapy, orthopedics, and psychotherapy.

Additionally, 120 disabled persons and orphans underwent vocational training in areas such as computer skills, electrical repair, and tailoring. Following their training, they were equipped with the necessary tools and resources.

Looking forward, the ministry’s objectives for the current year include continuing the registration of orphans, widows, and disabled individuals, distributing cash and non-cash aid, ensuring monthly entitlements, formalizing partnerships with aid groups, maintaining vocational training initiatives, implementing directives from the leadership, and delivering essential services.
