During a press briefing at the Government Media and Information Center, officials from the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs (MoLSA) revealed their annual performance review.

The ministry’s focus on enhancing employment prospects for 1.5 million individuals was underscored through the organization of a National Labor Conference and the execution of 15 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with various partners.

Over the past year, the ministry delivered tailored technical and vocational training to 74,738 individuals, in alignment with market demands. Additionally, work permits were issued to 118,755 domestic workers and 3,381 foreign nationals. Fifteen technical and vocational training institutions obtained operational licenses, with four others having their licenses renewed.

Collaborating with 68 organizations, the ministry inked MoUs concentrating on technical training, vocational education, care services, and humanitarian aid. These efforts benefited 60,000 individuals and created job opportunities for an additional 3,000 people.

Comprehensive studies on labor market trends, employment opportunities, workforce dynamics, and technical and vocational education were conducted across seven regional zones in the previous year, as highlighted by officials.

The ministry also provided financial and social backing to 6,341 orphans and educational opportunities to 10,297 children.

In line with its commitment to facilitating international employment, the ministry coordinated extensively with Qatar, the Russian Federation, and the United Arab Emirates to facilitate the deployment of skilled and semi-skilled workers. Drafts of nine MoUs, prepared in local languages and English, are nearing finalization.

Furthermore, through various inter-agency agreements, support was extended to 802,252 vulnerable and low-income families in the past year.

Key objectives for the ministry in the current year encompass executing the National Labor Conference commitments, issuing work permits, gathering comprehensive labor market data from 27 provinces, advancing MoUs with Qatar, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the UAE, establishing employment centers across regional zones, finalizing regulatory frameworks, conducting awareness programs within government entities, overseeing employment agencies, expanding technical and vocational training initiatives, addressing child welfare issues, sustaining aid for orphans and vulnerable children, and progressing job creation strategies.
