As per a statement of the Ministry of foreign affairs’ of the IEA, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is actively engaged in facilitating consular services for Afghan nationals residing abroad. Alongside this, diplomatic channels are being utilized to collaborate with Western nations to ensure that Afghan citizens can exercise their rights effectively.

Underlining that consular services are distinct from official recognition, as stipulated in the Vienna Convention, the Ministry emphasizes that intertwining consular and political matters can lead to complications and potentially infringe upon citizens’ rights.

Efforts are ongoing to establish consular services in a manner that upholds principles and is acceptable to all parties involved, with ongoing discussions and initiatives in progress with relevant countries.
